Ideas

You already have ideas or even family traditions when it comes to Halloween. You already know that you will go trick or treating with your kids. You can step it up this time by doing other fun activities. Some of these suggestions are perfect for adults, but others can be done with your kids.

Go on a hike

If you live near the woods, you might want to go on a hike on Halloween Eve. You need to go with your friends though as it could be too scary to go out alone. You might also need permission from local authorities to allow you to hike at that time. Find trails that are considered safe, and do not bring children with you on this trip.

Create a horror movie

Instead of sitting down to watch a horror movie, why don’t you make one yourself? You can take things up a notch by making your own script and shooting the scenes on the night of Halloween or weeks ahead so that your final scene will be shot during Halloween.

Barbecue night

Wouldn’t it be fun to have a barbecue night on Halloween? Everyone is outside anyway. It would be fun if you could also head out and join the celebration. You might even want to share your food to the attendees instead of giving sweet candies.

Go on zombie walk

As a family, you can go on a zombie walk around the neighborhood. It would be fun though if there are many of you doing it. Try to practice though so you will stay in character all throughout the walk.

Go to a graveyard

You can head to a graveyard with your friends. Do not brings kids with you as it could be too scary. You can go there to have horror stories. What could be scarier than this? As long as you do not disrespect the departed and stay in one areas, it is okay.

Decorate your house

Some people might already be doing it, but you can do it too if you want to feel the Halloween vibe. You can find lots of accessories to liven up your place for Halloween.

Go on a ghost hunt

If there are local haunted places that you can visit, you might want to go there on Halloween. You can also go to horror houses hosted by local circus if available. Again, this is not for the faint of heart. You need to do it with grown-ups who are brave enough.

Setup a treasure hunt

If there is Easter egg hunt, you can also have a spooky treasure hunt for Halloween. You can ask the kids to join the game. You may also setup prizes to motivate the kids even further.

Create some horror art

Another fun way to celebrate Halloween with kids is to create horror art. You can prepare the materials in advance and make this day educational and fun.

There are other ways to celebrate Halloween and have fun (or not) with the people around you. Don’t forget to wear your best Halloween costumes in doing all of these activities.
